The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD will have a starting price cheaper than the 2019 model just as with the GMC Sierra.
More good news for fans of big trucks from GM. The 2020 Silverado HD pricing has been announced and the most basic version of the pickup will have a starting price that was cheaper than the 2019 model.
The base truck, which is a regular cab, long bed, 2-wheel-drive, Silverado 2500 Work Truck will start at $35,695, which is $1,900 cheaper than the current 2019 model Silverado 2500. The Silverado 3500 Work Truck in the same configuration will start at $36,895. Both of these are also cheaper than the 2020 Sierra HD, which will start at $37,195.
Why the cheaper price? As with GMC, Chevrolet is now offering regular cab versions of the Silverado HD, which means the Work Truck will come with just two doors and two side windows. Double cab and extended cab options are still available, but of course, they cost a little extra.
Also as with GMC, the Silverado HD will have a new engine lineup that brings in a new 6.6-L V8 engine with 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. That engine comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 6.6-L Duramax turbodiesel V8 returns from last year’s model with 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic delivers that torque to either the rear or all four wheels.

Chevrolet has announced pricing for the 2020 Silverado HD, and despite offering greater capability and technology than the model it replaces, the heavy-duty pickup comes at a lower starting price.
Before we get into the numbers, let’s have a quick overview of the Silverado HD range. The heavy-duty truck is offered in strong 2500 or stronger 3500 guise, the latter of which is available as a dually. Trims, from entry-level to high-end, are Work Truck, Custom (exclusive to 2500), LT, LTZ, and High Country. All come standard with a 6.6-liter gasoline V-8 that makes 401 hp and 464 lb-ft backed by a six-speed transmission, but any can be had with a 6.6-liter turbodiesel V-8 producing 445 hp and a mighty 910 lb-ft of twist through a 10-speed transmission.

2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Is Cheaper Than Last Year’s Model
At least for certain trims.
Just before the new 2020 Silverado HD arrives in dealers, Chevrolet has released pricing details for its latest heavy-duty truck. And the good news is it costs less than last year’s model.
According to Chevrolet, the 2020 Silverado HD starts at $35,695 including the $1,595 destination fee. That makes it $300 less than the previous Silverado 2500HD and will give you a base Work Truck trim with a regular cab, a long bed, and rear-wheel drive. Upgrading to a Silverado 2500HD with a crew cab and regular bed will set you back $39,895 for the Work Truck trim, which is the same as the outgoing truck. Selecting a long bed in this configuration bumps up the price to $40,095. All trims with a long bed cost an extra $200 more, just like the 2020 GMC Sierra HD.
